NLDS Game 3: Nats at Giants

Nats Insider

SAN FRANCISCO — And so it has come to this. After 96 wins in 162 regular-season games, the Nationals’ 2014 campaign comes down to a win-or-else Game 3 this afternoon at AT&T Park.

To answer the question on everyone’s minds: No, Ryan Zimmerman is not in the lineup today. Matt Williams is going with the exact same lineup from Game 1 and Game 2. That lineup has produced only three runs in 27 postseason innings, though it was quite productive for a much longer stretch of games during the regular season. We shall see.

Doug Fister gets the start against Madison Bumgarner. The two have met twice before, including a 2-1 Nats win here in May and a 2-0 Giants win over the Tigers in Game 2 of the 2012 World Series. Given everything we’ve seen, I would expect nothing less than another fantastic pitchers’ duel today.

Updates to come…
